Chicago Cubs pitcher Luke Little ‘banned’ from using a glove with an American flag
Chicago Cubs reliever Luke Little had a minor issue during Wednesday night’s 4-3 victory over the Houston Astros. He had to change his glove before entering the game in the seventh inning, as the umpires asked him to do it over a rule.
Little stepped on the mound and got the job done after pitching 0.2 innings with a strikeout to close out the inning Cubs manager Craig Counse spoke to the press after the game about what exactly happened with Little’s glove that got the umpires so worked up.
Cubs reliever Luke Little briefly went viral for a reason other than his baseball talent.
He was told to change his black glove, which featured a small red, white and blue patch.
Counsell told the media that all the fuzz was about an American flag that Little had on his glove.
The issue was the American flag was on his glove. Pitchers’ gloves, they’re pretty strict about not having white on the pitchers’ gloves. Apparently the flag had what could be a distraction to the hitter.

Luke Little said about the incident
The little ‘incident’ caused some controversy after they banned him from using his glove with the flag, as it is the same one he has been wearing since he was in Class A. After his outing, he posted on his Twitter/X account a GIF with Hulk Hogan and the caption ‘Proud to be an American Go Cubs Go.‘
Little commented after the incident.
The clubbies told me that they had got an email from MLB that I’m not allowed to wear it. But I didn’t expect to be cut. It doesn’t give you an edge in the game. It’s not about hurting others. I am just a representative of my country. It’s always a failure. You have to prepare from the ground up.
