Geelong midfielder Tanner Bruhn has reportedly been interviewed by police over his knowledge of an alleged sexual assault.
The Herald Sun reported Bruhn and another man were spoken to by detectives from Victoria Police’s Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team last Thursday at Geelong Police Station.
It was in relation to an incident that took place in Belmont, in the Geelong suburbs, on February 5 last year.
Victoria Police said the pair were not arrested and were free to leave after the interview.
“Police have interviewed two men as part of an investigation into an alleged sexual assault in February 2023,” a spokesperson said.
“The men were released pending further investigation into the matter.”
The AFL is aware of the matter.
“As it is a Victoria Police investigation, we are not in a position to make any further comment at this time,” AFL spokesman Jay Allen said.
Bruhn is from the Geelong area and requested a trade to his hometown club ahead of the 2023 season after initially being drafted by GWS.
He has since played 36 games for the Cats, including both finals this past season, after
30 at the Giants.
