The Bills continue to add new pieces to replace what was lost when they were trying to get under the cap. Today they were able to pry a player from Kansas City.
The Bills have been on a search to replace Poyer
The Buffalo Bills have been on a search over the last couple of days for a safety to replace Jordan Poyer in the secondary. Poyer was cut from the team at the beginning of free agency which was a huge loss for the Bills. Not only did he bring physicality to their defense, but he was also a huge leader on the field. They’ve brought in a couple players on visits and today they were able to get one signed.
Mike Edwards signs with the Bills
One of the players that they brought in this week was Kansas City Chiefs safety Mike Edwards. He’s been in the league for 6 years now and will be coming to Buffalo this year.

It is just a one-year deal for now with Edwards.
Every signing moves the needle for “needs” going into the draft
The Bills will pick at #28 in this year’s NFL Draft and as always, it’s still a mystery which position they will go for. What seemed like a slam dunk at the beginning of free agency isn’t such a sure bet anymore.
Most people would have put their money on a wide receiver being chosen by the Bills in the first round of the draft. However, the signing of Curtis Samuel and Mack Hollins makes that water a little muddier. Do they still need a receiver that high in the draft? This draft class seems to be rich with receiver so they could possibly get one later on.
The defense lost some major players too. Defensive tackle, a position that requires a lot of rotating players in the Bills scheme is a little thin after losing players like Tim Settle and Poona Ford to free agency. Will they go for a Defensive tackle?
Defensive backs are a little thin too. They’ve got Rasul and Benford at the cornerback position, but they could use some depth there. They lost Poyer at the safety position and we still haven’t heard what the status is of Micah Hyde yet. Will he retire? Will he sign somewhere else? This signing today will help, but it doesn’t solidify the Bills defense yet.
For the first time in years, it feels like the Bills have more holes to fill heading into the draft.
