Bryce Harper’s birthday celebration divides fans
Bryce Harper has turned 31 years old and he chose to celebrate both his birthday and a home run in a way that divided many baseball fans.
The Philadelphia Phillies man was part of the side that beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-3 in Game 1 of the National League Championship Series.
At the bottom of the first inning, Harper managed to blast a solo home run to right-center field off Zac Gallen. This gave the Phillies an early two-run lead.
Having started the game so well, Harper then got back to home plate and held up three fingers on one hand and one on the other, before pretending to blow them out like candles on a birthday cake.
“It’s crazy. Sometimes I just do stuff, that felt right. I just thought about it as I was running around third base that I would do it,” Harper said after the game when asked about his celebrati

In the past, Harper has managed to attract attention for his celebrations. During the most recent postseason, he was seen staring down Atlanta Braves shortstop Orlando Arcia before then making a throat-slashing gesture which caused a lot of outrage
Harper is always outspoken and recently chatted on the Pat McAfee Show about the chance he had to play for the New York Yankees, the team that he grew up supporting.
“I grew up a Yankee fan my whole life everybody knew that, I grew up watching some really good Yankee teams: Bernie Williams, Derek Jeter, Jorge Posada, I mean, I loved those teams. But, I couldn’t imagine not being a Philadelphia Phillie,” he said.
