Patronis tells NCAA president Charlie Baker, ‘It’s covered.‘ Here’s a look at the University of Florida team after the University of Florida admissions survey ends.
FLORIDA STATE SEMINOLES
Florida Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Jimmy Patronis (R-FL) doubts his claim that the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) is going to get a football program from the Sunshine State.
On Friday, Matt Baker of the Tampa Bay Times reported that the University of Florida has been under investigation since June 9 for alleged NIL violations with former Florida quarterback Jaden Rashada.
After announcing that Florida State would be charged with NIL violations, CFO Patronis earlier this month sued NCAA President and Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker (R), former Florida State recruiter.
According to the report, FSU clearly violated the NIL and admission rules.
Patronis believes it was a desire to retaliate when Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) invited about 50 settlers to Martha’s Vineyard in Dukes County, Mass., when Baker was governor.
“It’s clear the NCAA and Charlie Baker are committed to the team in the Sunshine State. They let the NIL run wild and want to put the cat in the bag again. What they’ve done to college football is a disgrace,” Patronis said.
Additionally, in August 2023, Patronis sent a letter to Baker requesting the removal of the transfer difficulties. Darrell Jackson Jr. in Miami so he can play through the 2023 season. But Baker declined that offer.
In response, Patronis called Baker and the NCAA a bunch of “traitors” and threatened legal action.
