Shedeur Sanders could be the third QB picked in the 2024 Draft – What does this mean for the young signal-caller?

Sanders hasn’t decided yet, but he’s already making noise for next spring.

Shedeur Sanders was the sensation of this season at the University of Colorado. Although it was a season to forget for the Buffaloes, rumors have begun to circulate that the quarterback could skip his senior year in college to try his luck in the 2024 NFL Draft.

In the middle of a gray year for CU, Coach Prime’s son finished the NCAA season with 3,230 yards, 298 completions in 430 attempts, 27 touchdowns, and three interceptions, with a rating of 151.7 points.

The young Sanders was one of the few redeemable things in his team’s season, and that could make him one of the most desired quarterbacks in the 2024 Draft if he decides to make the leap to professional football.

Shedeur’s possibilities

Speaking to ClutchPoints, ESPN analyst Mel Kiper Jr. considered Shedeur could be the No. 3 quarterback prospect in 2024.

According to Kiper Jr., the young Sanders would be only below top candidates USC Trojans’ Caleb Williams and North Carolina Tar Heels’ Drake Maye.

In turn, the NFLMockDraftDatabase.com site placed him a few months ago as the fourth prospect, behind Williams, Maye, and Michigan Wolverines’ JJ McCarthy. In the most recent mock draft, Sanders is no longer even listed among the prospects. What would this mean for Sanders? If the young Buffaloes signal-caller decided to enter the 2024 draft and finish as the third-best quarterback, he could be selected among the last places in the first round.

However, if he becomes the fourth prospect, he would surely be called during the second half of the second round, a far cry from Shedeur’s aspirations and potential. Although he has not yet expressed any desire to enter next year’s draft, analysts believe that the best move for Sanders would be to take advantage of his remaining year in college football.

After leaving Jackson State to enroll at CU with his father, Sanders is finding bigger challenges that will help him mature as a quarterback. This, in turn, will give him a better projection for the 2025 Draft and help him land a

better contract.
