FSU Football Transfer Tracker: Seminoles land QB DJ Uiagalelei
Breaking news: Seminoles land star, QB DJ Uiagalelei
Quarterback Tate Rodemaker was one of 15 Seminoles at the transfer entrance. Former Oregon State quarterback DJ Uiagalelei has decided to transfer to Florida State, according to ESPN. Florida State transfer Cameron Ward announced this morning that he will enter the NFL Draft. Shortly after, ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported that Florida State had secured a commitment from former Oregon State quarterback DJ Uiagalelei. Uiagalelei and Ward went to Tallahassee in early December, and the Noles ended up with Uiagalelei.
News of DJU’s decision broke about an hour after Ward posted on his X account, @cameron7ward. Later Monday, Uiagalelei posted a photo of himself in an FSU uniform to his X account @DJUiagalelei. Ward posted a video on his X account @cameron7ward explaining his decision. The ‘Noles hit a pass rush trying to land a fourth down. FSU starting quarterback Jordan Travis is out for the season with a leg injury with two games left. FSU hopes to win the national championship when the College Football Playoff committee eliminated the undefeated Seminoles from the quarterfinals.
Travis has made his mark, so not only does FSU need a replacement for Jordan, but QB Tate Rodemaker has also entered the transfer window. FSU only had quarterback Brock Glenn in the Orange Bowl, and he wasn’t very good. Uiagalelei, who transferred from Clemson to Oregon State before last season, completed just 57 percent of his passes for the 8-5 Beavers last season.
He passed for 2,638 yards and 21 touchdowns. Ward had a great season with the Cougars even though the team went 5-7 overall. He threw for 3,736 yards this season, completing 67% of his passes and 27 touchdowns. He has over 7,000 yards and 48 touchdowns over the past two seasons. The NFL has been designated as a destination for several players who wish FSU could stay one more season.
Keon Coleman announced last week that he will forgo his senior season and enter the NFL Draft. He was one of 22 FSU players who did not play in Saturday night’s 63-3 Orange Bowl rout of Georgia. Receiver Johnny Wilson and linebacker Jared Verse are going to the next level. Nine Seminoles have announced they will enter the draft.
Good news came to the Seminoles this month when Marvin Jones Jr. he decided former senior to transfer from Georgia to FSU. His father played at FSU from 1990 to 1992. Coleman’s departure isn’t a huge surprise, considering the time the 6-foot-4, 215-pounder exploded onto the field after transferring from Michigan State. Coleman had 50 catches and 11 for 658 yards and shared the spotlight with teammate Wilson as FSU turned in a 13-0 season.
Wilson also decided to enter the NFL draft. And still no sign of Patrick Payton walking into the lobby. Looks like he’s crazy enough to make NIL more flexible. However, the ‘Noles reportedly won’t budge on the number they agreed to with Payton.
