Breaking: Albon signs new multi-year F1 contract

Another piece of the driver market puzzle has fallen into place as Alex Albon has committed to a new multi-year contract.

Alex Albon has committed his Formula 1 future to the Williams team, signing a multi-year extension with the Grove-based squad.

The new deal will take Albon into the new era of technical regulations, which come into play in 2026.

His previous contract was set to run until the end of 2025, but questions were raised over his potential to depart for another squad before then.

However, all rumours have been put to rest as he has penned a fresh contract with Williams, a team he originally joined in 2022.

‘I want to play a key role’

Albon’s best result at Williams is seventh-place finish, which he achieved twice in 2023.

The Thai-British driver joined forces with the ex-world champions after a short stint at Red Bull alongside Max Verstappen.

Williams has been competing towards the back of the F1 field across the last several F1 seasons, with the team signalling with a multi-year deal that Albon is a key part of its recovery up the order.

“I am incredibly happy to be remaining with Williams Racing and to continue working with such a talented and dedicated team of people,” Albon said.

“It has been a difficult start to the year but since joining Williams we have made significant progress together and I have seen the huge changes happening behind the scenes to take us back to the front of the grid.

“This is a long-term project that I really believe in and want to play a key role in which is why I have signed a multi-year contract.

“The journey will take time but I am confident we are building the right team to move forward and achieve great things in the years to come.”
