Braves Send Max Fried to the Mound Against Tampa Bay Rays
The Atlanta Braves are seemingly set for Opening Day.
After optioning Bryce Elder to AAA Gwinnett on Monday morning, Atlanta’s decided almost every position battle on the roster outside of the final spot on the bench. And so, now it’s time to make sure you’re ready for the first road trip of the season when the team heads to Philadelphia to take on the Phillies.
Max Fried continues his preparations today, on the mound for Atlanta as they travel to Port Charlotte to take on the Tampa Bay Rays. Here’s how the Braves will line up behind him:
RF Ronald Acuña Jr.
2B Luis Guillorme
3B Austin Riley
C Travis d’Arnaud
SS David Fletcher
LF Forrest Wall
CF Eli White
1B Luke Williams
DH Andrew Velazquez
Fried’s making his third appearance of spring, but he’s not behind in his Opening Day preparations; he’s been throwing live batting practice and simulated games at the team’s North Port facility in lieu of some Grapefruit League appearances. Fried’s 0-0 with a 7.20 ERA in his five innings of work, striking out four and walking three.
Here’s how the Rays look to set the lineup in Charlotte Sports Park:
1B Yandy Díaz
2B Brandon Lowe
CF Randy Arozarena
DH Harold Ramírez
3B Isaac Parades
RF Amed Rosario
LF Richie Palacios
SS Jose Caballero
C Rene Pinto
Starting for the Rays is RHP Chris Devenski. He has no decisions and a 2.25 ERA in his first two appearances of the spring, striking out two and walking one in his first four innings.
