Former FSU Football stars expected to join Cowboys and Colts in ESPN Analyst latest Mock Draft
Two standouts continue in analysts and radar before the 2024 NFL Draft.
FLORIDA STATE SEMINOLES
ESPN analyst Matt Miller released a second-round draft after the Senior Bowl that has a pair of the and#039;Noles in the first round along with Florida State EDGE Verse. The Indianapolis Colts with the 15th pick and wide receiver Keon Coleman go to the Dallas Cowboys with the 24th pick.
Here’s my updated look at the first two rounds after the Senior Bowl.
And I expect the Colts to concede wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. and that opens the door for a passer-by there, andquot; Miller argued in verse. andquot;The Colts have used a variety of picks on defense in the first and second rounds recently, and despite having 51 picks in 2023 (fifth overall), they still lack a top player at the position. Verse is a true 4-3 defensive end at 6-foot-4, 260 pounds and recorded nine sacks in 2023. Against Verse and alongside Kwity Paye and DeForest Buckner, the front man could be a handful for Indy.andquot;
Verso would give the Colts a scary front line as Miller pointed out at the end. They did a good job as a sack receiving committee, with four players averaging 8.0 or better, but none in double figures. Verso could easily be the standout player in this space.
Miller explains that the Dallas Cowboys drafted Keon Coleman: andquot;While Brandin Cooks had a big impact in the 2023 season, Dallas needed a backup for CeeDee Lamb since trading Amari Cooper. Coleman, a 6-foot-1, 215-pound receiver, had 11 catches on just 50 carries in his only season at Florida State after transferring from Michigan State. He needs help breaking out sometimes, but facing the opposing team and CB2 would be an easy job given his size, catch radius and contact toughness.andquot;
Seeing Coleman paired with CeeDee Lamb would be a must-see and a tough matchup for most teams because not everyone has two or three elite cornerbacks to pair with such an elite receiving duo. Lamb is coming off a Monster 2023 campaign, finishing with 1,749 receiving yards and 14 total touchdowns (12 receiving, two rushing).Adding a true jump ball receiver next to him in Coleman could open up the court even more for their offense.
