ENGLEWOOD, Colo. – Harald Hasselbach, a longtime Bronco player and key member of Denverland’s Super Bowl-winning teams, has died.
He is 56 years old. According to his family, Hasselbach died peacefully at home after a courageous six-month battle with cancer. A defensive tackle, Hasselbach played in every available season and postseason game (131 games) in seven seasons with the Broncos (1994-2000).
He started 29 games on the season for the Broncos and started three games during the Broncosand#039 season. Challenge yourself to Super Bowl XXXIII. During his Denver career, Hasselbach recorded 154 tackles, 17.5 sacks and four interceptions.
Prior to his NFL career, Hasselbach was drafted by the Calgary Stampeders in the 1989 Canadian Football League draft. He spent four years with the Stampeders, was a CFL All-Star and won the Gray Cup. He is one of 10 players to win both the Gray Cup and the Super Bowl. Born in the Netherlands in 1967, Hasselbach attended high school in Tsawwassen, in the Greater Vancouver region of southern British Columbia. He joined the B.C. In 2016, he was inducted into the Football Hall of Fame as one of South Delta High School’s greatest athletes.
Hasselbach played football at the University of Washington. Hasselbach is survived by his wife, Aundrea; their four children, Ashlee, Terana, Awene and Kiana; and four grandchildren.
