Biles, the greatest American gymnast, has dominated the sport and fatigue might force her to consider retirement despite her young age.
Seven-time artistic gymnast Olympic champion Simon Biles has dropped a retirement hint after doing some pilates recently.
The 23-time world champion has earned the right to go out on her own terms despite seemingly being crazy to even think about given that she’s still just 27 years old
She definitely didn’t show any signs of decline at the Olympics in Paris, winning four medals, three of which were gold, but her latest revelation puts doubt regarding her future in a sport she has made her own for more than a decade after shooting to prominence in 2013.
First time working out since the Olympics… This is what I wore to a pilates class that I will never be attending again! Y’all stay strong out there lmao. It was too hard,” Biles shared on Instagram after doing one pilates session.
Biles may be starting to feel some of the physical effects of years of competing. Biles has plenty of ways other than pilates to stay active and keep her body fresh
It’s fair to wonder if her body can still hold up to rigorous exercises after so many years of competing at the highest level of gymnastics, but it’s tough to count her out just yet.
Gymnastics is a brutal sport on the body, and most gymnasts retire in their mid-20s, with their best years coming while they are in their late teens.
The times have changed, and modern exercising and medicine allows gymnasts to compete at a high level for longer, but many have begun wondering if the American, who, in 2022, was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by the then President Joe Biden, will ride off into the sunset sooner than later.
