Nine months after a season-ending knee injury, Cleveland Browns linebacker Nick Chubb is back in the team building while nursing the second major left knee injury of his career.
On Wednesday, Chubb broke a nearly nine-month silence to talk about rehab.
In his first comments to the media since his injury last season, Chubb sent a strong message to those who doubt his future with the Browns.
“It’s not the first time I’ve been wiped out, so I’ve been here before,” Chubb said, discussing what motivates him during the recovery.
Nearly a decade earlier, Chubb suffered his first ACL tear in the same knee at Georgia.
During his second year at Georgia, Chubb suffered a midseason knee injury.
In 2016, Chubb came back and had his biggest rushing effort of his junior season. Finished the year with 1,130 passing yards in 13 games.
The next year, Chubb helped his team reach the national championship game with over 1,380 yards.
He added that the experience gained at university in treating a knee injury helped him tackle the recovery process this time as well.
Chubb said there is no timetable available for his return, but he is taking recovery as a day-to-day process to continue working toward a return for the 2024 regular season.
The coach also added that he liked where he is in his recovery, noting that he still has important steps to take before returning to the field..
