Playing alongside Tiger Woods at The Masters, Tyrrell Hatton confessed that he was “devastated” after four-putting the 18th, resulting in a third round of 73 to slip to three over par. The Englishman suffered a nightmare on the last hole on the third day of play at Augusta National.

“For the kid inside of me, playing with Tiger at the Masters, like that’s really cool. That’s certainly not lost on me,” Hatton expressed. “But at the same time I’m going out there competing, trying to put together the best round I can and trying to move up the leaderboard, which for 17 and a half holes I feel like I did a really good job of.

Yeah, I’m devastated, to be honest. It’s tough to take. I don’t know how I have to play golf around here to shoot under par.”

Woods suffered an unwanted milestone at Augusta National. The American icon insisted he could challenge for a 16th major title after playing 23 holes on Friday to make a record 24th consecutive cut, but slumped to a third round of 82 instead.

The 48-year-old’s previous worst scores both came in 2022, when he shot 78 in both the third and fourth rounds. Asked what the biggest challenge he had faced was, Woods said: “The fact that I was not hitting it very good or putting well.”
