Cam Newton knows a thing or two about deep playoffs. With Deshaun Watson still chasing his first deep playoff run, Newton asked the quarterback to step up. Speaking of “4th and 1,” the former Carolina Panthers sensation said it’s “time” for Watson to take the next step.

Newton understands what it’s like to be a 29-year veteran. When he was 29, he was at the beginning of his NFL decline. Meanwhile, Watson is pushing for a breakout season. At age 29, Newton was 6-8 and was the second true starter of his career last season.
Β Age catches up in different ways and at different times, but the likelihood of injury and damage doesn’t increase for people until about age 30. Watson will enter this window in 2024.

Deshaun Watson has a chance to change the perception of his time with the Cleveland Browns this season. After planting the seed with a 5-1 team last year, a quality year could prove his addition was at least a winning move, if not lightning-fast ROI.
However, if he had a quality year in 2024, probably every fan would agree that he needs to throw for double-digit touchdowns. If he were to reach that base hit, it would be the first time since 2020.
He had 33 touchdowns and seven interceptions in 2020, the most productive season of his career. However, he ended up going 4-12 as well. Watson threw for seven touchdowns and four interceptions last season, going 5-1.
