Just recently, NBA fans saw the end of the Golden State Warriors’ dynasty with Klay Thompson getting traded to the Dallas Mavericks. Like those fans, veteran guard Patrick Beverley shared his thoughts on how things have ended for the All-Star trio of Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Thompson.
Golden State has enjoyed a remarkable resurgence in the 21st century, led by the arrival of Curry. After struggling through the late 1990s and 2000s, the Warriors drafted the point guard in 2009, ushering in a new era of success.
In the early 2010s, the team continued to build through the draft, adding Thompson and Green to form a talented core. This core group led the Warriors to five consecutive Finals appearances from 2015-2019, winning three championships in 2015, 2017, and 2018.
The Warriors’ dynasty was fueled by their unselfish style of play and elite two-way performance. Curry’s otherworldly shooting, Thompson’s sharpshooting, and Green’s defensive versatility made the Warriors nearly unbeatable during this stretch.
While the team faced some injury challenges in the late 2010s, they continued to be a force in the West. In 2022, the Warriors reclaimed the NBA title, demonstrating their ability to reload and remain contenders even as their core players aged. However, Thompson’s recent trade to the Mavericks has effectively ended the trio’s time together, and the dynasty in the process.
Patrick Beverley Pays Tribute to Golden State Warriors Dynasty After Klay Thompson Exit
After Thompson was traded to Dallas, social media was flooded with reactions to the move. Among those who shared their thoughts on the matter was veteran guard Patrick Beverley in a post on his official X account.
“What a ride they had. Steph, Klay, Draymond never thought it would end. They changed the game,” Beverley tweeted.
The Mavericks have recently completed a sign-and-trade deal with the Dubs to acquire Thompson. The Warriors, in turn, received two second-round picks in the deal, while the Charlotte Hornets acquired Josh Green from the Dallas in the said deal.
A lot of NBA fans will look forward to see how Thompson and the Warriors will play out in the coming season. In any case, Beverley will surely keep a close eye on both parties as the upcoming campaign unfolds later this year.
