The 27-year-old was eventually released at 8.40 am local time where he was able to make his return to Valhalla.
Scheffler appeared in high spirits as he stepped out of his car into the clubhouse with around one hour until his scheduled tee time.
It was a quick turnaround for Scheffler as he tried to get in some time on the range and he was greeted with cheers from the few patrons who were able to get in before the start of the second round.
