F1 Qualifying Results: Hamilton gives ‘sad’ confession in Mercedes struggles

Hamilton admits Mercedes ‘slow’ struggle.

Hamilton complained to his team on the radio in the first quarter, declaring: “I was just a slow man” in a rather dejected message.

Aston Martin’s recent poor form continued after Lance Stroll failed to progress from Q1 and two-time champion Fernando Alonso found himself knocked out of the top ten at the end of Q2.

  Sounding shaken over the team radio, Alonso admitted he nearly lost control in Q2 at turns seven and ten. Here are the results from the first two sessions in Austria

How does F1 qualify?
The qualifying session is split into three limited windows, giving a dramatic start to Sunday’s race. The last five drivers are eliminated at the end of Q1 and the remaining five after Q2. Q3 then gives us a battle between the remaining 10 drivers in the battle for positions on the grid..
