Award of the best player in the Kirby Smart Era goes to…

Brock Bowers should rank as Georgia’s best player in the Kirby Smart Era
Georgia had a lot of first round picks during Kirby Smartand’s tenure, but not many on the downside of the ball. Brock Bowers plans to change that in April.

Kirby Smart has accomplished a lot since arriving at Georgia in 2016. Two national titles, two SEC championships, 95 wins and 55 picks in just eight times, which is ridiculously fast.

Of the 55 players selected, 15 were chosen in the first round. Of those 15, only five were bad players, and all but one fouled out. Georgia has had every bit of success under Smart, with just one talented first-round draft pick (Sony Michel). That will change in April.

January 10, 2022; Indianapolis, Indiana, USA; Georgia Bulldogs tight end Brock Bowers (19) runs for the second half against Alabama Crimson Tide linebacker Henry Toand (10) during the 2022 CFP College Football National Championship at Lucas Oil Stadium.

The question is not whether Georgia tight end Brock Bowers will be selected in the first round of the upcoming NFL draft (April 25-27), but how far he will go. ? The two-time All-American is ranked among the top 10 offensive selections in the draft. If he’s drafted there, he’ll be Georgia’s best player since Todd Gurley was drafted 10th overall. 2015 Louis Rams.

Bowers has been a star since entering the University of Georgia, earning SEC Freshman of the Year honors and being named First Team All-ACC all three years he attended the school. He holds all of Georgia’s passing records and is the school’s tallest player at the position. Super Bowl champion Benjamin Watson holds this record (2004 – 1st round – pick 32 – New England).

Georgia’s worst player is Matthew Stafford, the Detroit Lions’ No. 1 pick in the 2009 NFL Draft. Andrew Thomas (2020 – 1st round – 4th pick – New York Giants) was the highest-drafted offensive player of the Kirby Smart era in georgia.
