Tommy Rees response as Browns tried to hire him that left them heartbroken

The Cleveland Browns are in the process of hiring Tommy Rees as their tight ends coach.

    The Cleveland Browns are in the process of hiring former Alabama offensive coordinator Tommy Rees, according to Zac Jackson of The Athletic. While his exact position is still to be determined, expect Reese to play aggressively and be a part of the offensive passing game.

Browns are working to hire Tommy Rees as tight ends coach who will be involved in overall passing game development,” Jackson said via X. Not official yet. Rees, 31, was Alabama’s offensive coordinator last year.
If the price goes up, it will mark Rees’ second NFL stint for Cleveland. He spent one year with the former San Diego Chargers, serving as an offensive analyst under coach Mike McCoy. Otherwise, Rees worked in college football.

This is Rees’ third visit in as many years. His faith grew stronger when he left his alma mater, Notre Dame, where he was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. Nick Saban wanted Rees to work with Jalen Milroe in Tuscaloosa, and maybe they’ll be successful.
Alabama overcame tough early battles to win the SEC Championship and advance to the College Football Playoff. Rees led the nation’s top 25 in scoring, but says he faces a tough NFL season.

   Reese set to replace T.C. McCartney was fired by Cleveland after losing to the Houston Texans in the AFC divisional round. McCartney has held the position for the past two years.

Cleveland has the best tight end in the entire NFL, led by David Njoku. He finished as the Browns’ second-leading receiver behind Amari Cooper. Njoku caught 81 passes for 882 yards and six touchdowns.

Among tight ends in the entire league, Njoku is sixth in receiving yards.
Jordan Akins is the second-longest tight end, with Harrison Bryant injured, playing just nine games. Rees joins a talent room poised to be effective regardless of who Cleveland’s quarterback is in 2024.

   I think Deshaun Watson is the guy, but injuries have been the biggest story of his time with the Browns this season. If healthy, expect Rees to step up in the passing game and help Watson get back to the level we talked about during his time in Houston.
