Former Alabama national champion quarterback and current ESPN analyst Greg McElroy is one of the leading voices in college football. In a recent edition of the Always College Football Podcast, McElroy took a look at which SEC teams will make it to the 12-team football tournament in 2024.

So I looked at how they were doing defensively. I think that group can go forward because they played a lot of young games in that side last season. At one point, they had four new ones in the front row.

For me, the schedule is harder tha The years passed. Take Clemson there in the non-conference and get to Atlanta. It’s a tough game. Go to Ole Miss. Go to Alabama, go to Texas. These are probably the three best teams in the SEC outside of Georgia. The trip to Georgia is going to be tough and I think they’re going to go 12-0... It’s hard to imagine. But the worst case scenario is 10-2, 11-1
If you look at last year, they finished sixth [in the College Football Playoff standings]. That, I said, is an SEC Championship loss. It’s a more complicated schedule, but I think the committee will like it.
