Bills’ Sean McDermott and Von Miller explain how to come back from injury

Buffalo Bills linebacker Von Miller (40) misses the line against the Giants. We’ve seen Von Miller in small doses since his return to the Buffalo Bills. It is a luxury.ย Miller, 33, is arguably one of the best press managers to ever play in the NFL.

ย  ย He would make any defense better. But the Bills … don’t need him. Buffalo (4-2) recorded a league-high 24 sacks. Of course they want Miller, but since the defense is already working, they can bring him in slowly. It’s a luxury the Bills haven’t always had. Head coach Sean McDermott compared Miller’s return to Tre’Davious White last year. White is unfortunately out again this season (Achilles), but he is back in 2022 from a similar knee injury to Miller. White was forced to throw deep due to injury and lack of production in the Bills secondary.

ย  ย Miller’s situation is the opposite. “You never want to push a player,” McDermott said. “The situation was a bit different. The boys have done such a good job so far.” Even Miller can agree with the current approach. “Everybody there does a really good job of rushing the quarterback. It’s a really, really talented room,” Miller said via video conference. “We’ve been very motivated this season to come out and get the job done.”

ย  ย As for his health, Miller said he feels better every week. He hopes to be off the knee brace in two weeks and increased his workload from the first game to the second as his return went well. “It was good to be out there,” Miller said. “It just builds my confidence and I’ll keep building on that. Last week in London was just the starting point. Last week I felt like I kept making strides and finally started picking up bags.”

ย  ย Miller continues to add to his starting tally on Sunday against the New England Patriots (1-5). For more on McDermott on Miller’s return, see
