4 Keldon Johnson trades that could dramatically change the Spurs

Keldon Johnson led the Spurs in scoring last season, averaging 22 points per game with a somewhat underwhelming performance.

While he was arguably the first option on that team, that role fell to him by default when Devin Vassell missed more than 40 games. But now that San Antonio has acquired franchise player Victor Wembanyama, the 23-year-old forward could be the odd man out for a team looking to bolster its assets to bolster other positions. 1.) Washington Wizards

The Wizards are embarking on a complete rebuild after trading franchise cornerstone Bradley Beal to the Phoenix Suns and acquiring Jordan Poole this summer. Washington also brought back Kyle Kuzma and re-signed him to a four-year, $90 million contract.

Adding Keldon Johnson could give them a solid core of young scorers, and it certainly doesn’t hurt that his declining contract is one of the best values in the NBA. In exchange, San Antonio would like Daniel Gafford, Tyus Jones and a 2024 first-round pick via the Suns. This trade would give the Spurs a pick, an emerging big man and another elite playmaker. The Silver and Black are thin on defenders outside of Tre Jones, but his older brother makes sure they always have a reliable guide on the court.

The 6-foot-6 center is a defensive player who has been able to lock down the front court while providing unspent turnovers. The Spurs could also add a raw prospect like Blake Wesley to the deal to sweeten the pot.
